LFNLib is a replacement for the DOS.H standard library that is typically used for file input and output in 16-bit C applications. Use LFNLib instead, and get support for Windows 95 long filenames with barely any extra work! Transparently scales back to 8.3 format filenames on systems or drives that don't support LFN's; your application doesn't need to worry.

Note: does not work under Windows NT, which does not provide 16-bit support for long filenames.

• (Not available online, to my knowledge) -- for the curious, the information on using LFN's in 16-bit applications, that enabled me to write LFNLib, is in the Microsoft help file "Programmer's Guide to Windows 95", in the chapter on "Using Microsoft MS-DOS Extensions", section "Long filenames." If you have MSVC 4.x, look in the InfoViewer under "SDK's", "Win32 SDK", "Guides" to find the Programmer's Guide.
